Cookie Policy

We use one cookie, to keep you logged in, and no advertising or tracking cookies, so there’s nothing to accept or decline. Here’s everything the site keeps in your browser.

Last updated October 23, 2026

1. The one cookie

When you log in, the site sets a cookie (its name starts with “sb-”) that keeps you logged in as you move from page to page, and tells the site who you are so it can show your books, courses and the club. It’s removed when you log out, and it isn’t used for anything else.

It’s strictly necessary for the service you’ve asked for, which is why the law doesn’t require us to ask first. If you block it, you can still read the public pages, but you won’t be able to log in.

2. Settings kept in your browser

A few choices you make are remembered in your own browser’s storage, never sent to us, so the site looks the way you left it next time:

  • light or dark mode;
  • the currency you prefer to see prices in;
  • the reader’s text size, font and spacing, your listening settings, and the color you last highlighted with.

You can clear them at any time in your browser’s settings; the site then goes back to its usual look.

3. Reading offline

If you choose to save a book for reading offline, your browser keeps a copy of its chapters so you can read without a connection. You can remove it from the reader or by clearing the site’s data in your browser.

4. Counting visits

We count visits without cookies and without storing anything in your browser. Our Privacy Policy explains how.

5. Other websites

Course videos play in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player or in Vimeo’s player with tracking turned off. They load only when you open a lesson with a video, and may store a little in your browser to make the video play. When you pay, Stripe or PayPal may set their own cookies on their pages, to process the payment safely. Their own policies explain these.
